Woodland, California — (July 16, 2026) — The Moulding & Millwork Producers Association (MMPA) proudly
presented its first-ever IMPACT Award for Organizational Excellence to Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI)
recognizing the company’s exceptional leadership and lasting contributions to the moulding and millwork industry.
The IMPACT Award was established to recognize an organization that exemplifies excellence across multiple areas of business performance, including innovation, quality and service, environmental stewardship, industry leadership, workplace safety, employee development, and community engagement. The annual award celebrates organizations that demonstrate visionary leadership while creating meaningful and measurable impacts within their companies, communities, and the forest products industry.
Founded in 1949, Sierra Pacific Industries has grown into one of the nation’s largest family-owned integrated forest products companies. With operations spanning California, Oregon, and Washington, SPI has built a reputation for combining responsible forest management with advanced manufacturing technologies and a commitment to producing high-quality wood products.
“Sierra Pacific Industries embodies everything the IMPACT Award was created to recognize,” said Kellie
Schroeder, CAE, Chief Executive Officer of the Moulding & Millwork Producers Association. “Their
commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, employee development, safety, and community investment demonstrates what it means to be an industry leader. They have established a culture of continuous improvement while maintaining an unwavering commitment to sustainable forestry and operational excellence.
We are honored to recognize Sierra Pacific Industries as the inaugural recipient of this prestigious award.”
Among the many accomplishments recognized by the awards committee was SPI’s ongoing investment in
manufacturing innovation. The company has implemented advanced CNC moulders and inline machining centers that have reduced production changeover times by 50 percent while improving manufacturing efficiency. Through its vertically integrated business model—including company-owned timberlands, sawmills, manufacturing facilities, and transportation services—SPI maintains exceptional control over quality, production, and customer service from the forest to the finished product.
Environmental stewardship was another defining factor in SPI’s selection. Certified through the Sustainable
Forestry Initiative (SFI), the company plants three trees for every tree harvested and recently celebrated the
milestone of planting more than 300 million trees. Beyond responsible forest management, SPI maximizes the use of every harvested tree by converting manufacturing residuals into paper chips, animal bedding, landscaping
materials, and renewable biomass energy. Combined with on-site solar generation, the company’s renewable
energy operations produce enough electricity each year to power more than 182,000 homes.
The selection committee also recognized Sierra Pacific Industries’ commitment to creating a safe and rewarding
workplace. Company-wide safety initiatives, including its “Take 60” program, encourage employees to pause before beginning every task to evaluate potential hazards and ensure they have the proper tools, training, and resources to perform their work safely. SPI also invests heavily in workforce development through technical education programs, internal career advancement opportunities, and partnerships with high schools and community colleges that introduce future generations to careers in the wood products industry.
Beyond its manufacturing operations, Sierra Pacific Industries has made a lasting difference in the communities it serves through the Sierra Pacific Foundation. Since 1979, the Foundation has awarded more than $10 million in scholarships to the children of SPI employees while also providing millions of dollars in charitable contributions
supporting youth programs, educational initiatives, and community organizations throughout the regions where the company operates.
The IMPACT Award recipient was selected by a committee of MMPA member companies following a
comprehensive evaluation process that measures excellence across seven categories: innovation; quality and
service; environmental stewardship; industry leadership; safety; culture and employee development; and
community engagement.
“As our first IMPACT Award recipient, Sierra Pacific Industries has established an extraordinary benchmark for
organizational excellence,” Schroeder added. “Their accomplishments reflect the values that continue to strengthen our industry and inspire future generations of manufacturers. We congratulate the entire Sierra Pacific Industries team on this well-deserved recognition.”
